casey,
do you need folks to looks at some parts of the canadian section- i could go in the wigwam/galton section pretty easily
Galton pass and the lower flathead are fine. The south side of flathead pass, the part that is a running creek most of the time is gone.
Corbin rd is reopening to mining traffic but will remain closed to public traffic due to road construction.
the upper elk valley rd took a lot of damage the bridge 65 km north of elkford is washed out. There is a rd on the east side of the river that can be used once the creeks have subsided.
For the long term the only questionable part is wether the upper flathead rd (squaw ck) will be rebuilt. it won't be passable by car for some time but may be rideable by bike.

My new favourite racer has to be Hugh Harvey.
it looks like he was riding with Walter brumniach when he had his accident, accompanied him to the hospital in Rawlins. he then rode backwards about 25 miles to the the scene of the accident to continue his ride.
It's gotta be tough losing your riding buddy at this point but it looks like he's determined to finish.
go Harvey go!

I still have nightmares about missing that turn last year.I noticed it about 4 miles down. It could easily go unnoticed if a rider misses it because the route rejoins it.

oh really...paul attala is back? This is getting interesting. When is he starting his ITT? Anyone?
Paul is en route to Banff. Probably starting Tuesday in the early AM. It will be a good ride to watch.
Good luck Paul!

MEC.ca has free shipping over 50$ or you can pay for fast shipping for about 15$. They take orders 7 days a week. You could have your order shipped to the Banff Y in time for the GD
Hey Jeff - I just checked Mountain Equipment Coop in Calgary and they appear to have stock in size 10 anyways.  You can always call them and have the socks put aside for pick up or arrange something like that for when you get to Calgary.  Here is the link to the website.

Jay hitting Lima just before closing was huge. It aloud him to leave early. With a good day he should make it to Flagg Ranch before closing. Which should put him in Pinedale before closing the next day.

Flathead report.
Rode the wigwam to Galton pass on sunday
There were a bunch of intermittent snowpatches before the switchback on Galton pass, most of which should be gone or have a ribbon of dirt by saturday.
The real snow started above the switchback once you round the bend to the left. I think about 1 1/2mile from the top @ around 5800'.
Overall I think the snowpack isn't too bad. I'd expect around 3 miles or less on the 3 flathead passes.
Cabin pass may be almost clear.
3 weeks ago there was 3' for 3 miles south of flathead pass, most of that should be gone because the road is the creek bed. Wink
There will be a lot of water thru the upper flathead. Were having heavy rain here for a few days. Should melt more snow. It will make a lot of looong axle deep puddles in the upper flathead.
It wouldn't be any fun if all the snow was gone.
can't wait
Serge

there is a charger available made by Gomadic, it uses 4AA batteries and you can get different tips to charge different item's. I'd recommend getting at least one spare tip in case one fail's. other than that it works great.
I ordered mine from Amazon and received it the same week.

I have been riding in the area between cabin pass and galton. Last weekend the snowline was 6 miles from cabin pass on the wigwam side. The snowline is already a little higher than it was during the first week of june last year. Everytime I go in there I am more impressed with J. Simoni's ride
There will be snow to cross during the grand depart but I would be very surprised if there is snow detours.
If your gunning for the record you might want to do a later ITT.
Will keep you posted

Has anyone noticed there won't be a moon during this year's tour divide.
I am wondering if this might affect the nightime strategy.
