I was wondering what the condition of this trail is, if anyone has ridden it recently.

I've read the trip reports and I'm trying to also decide which direction to ride it. East to west or west to east.
It's only 18 miles, but from the trip report I've read on here, it seems like an all day ride still.

What do you think. Which direction is the best ride? Could you do an out and back or is it a definite shuttle if I want to do it in one day?

Thanks!

I plan to head out and do it this week or next.

nice trip.

have you done a Slab City trip?  Your bike, blog and face look familiar.

Thanks.

Yep, I've done a couple trips to the slabs. Once in the 4runner and once on the Triumph. Both for the Slab City Riot. The first trip I took pictures and posted on the blog. Here are the three posts. Lots of pics from that trip.

That is some wicked sand and silt you had to ride through.  I noticed how the moto was tracking from side to side through some of it.
Your post may have brought up the temperature here about a degree, thank you.

Haha, that section of DEEP silt was a couple miles long, but it seemed like 10 miles. I was all too happy to make it through without falling into it. :-)
It's going to be 64 degrees here tomorrow. Brrr! Thankfully after that it's back into the 70's. Summers suck, but this time of year is what it's all about here.

I've known about the route for a long time, but it wasn't until I saw the trip report on here that I thought, hmmm maybe I'll do it on my bike too. Thanks for the inspiration to get off my lazy ass and do it.  thumbsup

The pics, video and words are up on my blog:
