Gap Rd sounds good. Lemmon might kill me. Plus I want to end up at Catalina State Park. It's been a great trip! No flats until I hit Hwy 77 (at dark, of course). Thanks for your help!

I just finished a short section of the AZT from Phoenix to Oracle and am looking for a good route to Oro Valley or Tucson OFF of highway 77. Suggestions?

Thanks, Matt. I've decided to get something similar. I am using tires with tubes...seen too many messy blowouts with tubeless tires.  Julie

Thanks for your advice. I had the same concern when I saw them. We'll be doing a combo, dirt road and single track. I think I'll go with a center bead and side tread. I've had good luck with that combo on past tours.

I'm leaving next week to bike the section of the AZT roughly from east of Phoenix to Mt Lemmon. What type of tires should I use? Looks like everyone is using knobbies, but our local bike shop fitted me with some Serfas Drifters, 26 x 2.0.

Curious for opinions and any tips for that section of trail
