Well hello there! I am new to the forum though have been with this discipline for years now. I first started with backpacking by foot though have grown tired of it 5 years in when I was 24 so my friends and I took the jump to bike packing which is not only a lot better and more enjoyable but very challenging in more aspects compared to backpacking.

I got really used to using papago so even there are other options that work a lot better and easier with traveling with bikes, I never looked back. Though it really is not for someone who has not been familiar with its interface as it could start to act up which leaves you at the losing end when you get lost. Though, when you get comfortable with it, it will make sure for a very easy navigation companion.

It really is hard to start with training especially if you are not familiar with how it is going to be pulled of, or if you are not familiar with how you are going to keep up.
Also, it will be extra hard if you have come to some time for lay off which lets your body get used to normal conditions only to be pushed to the limit when you again start to train.

I am most comfortable working with Whisperlite and though there are a lot lighter ones you can bring and choose from, I would still prefer to go with something I am really comfortable with. I also helps that you are familiar with it already rather than try something out only to find out that they are not going to work when you get there. Just not an option if you ask me.
