Not if Cricket can ride the original course without deviation. So far so good, now we just hope the southern route stays open from the fires and she has a possibility at the women's record.
Ah but she can't- this year's course has changed with the new route into Silver City so I guess technically just finishing this year without riding a reroute will set a new record...even if she does it in 30 days.

Could someone point me in the direction of Jill Homers record setting splits? I saw in a previous post that someone was comparing where Jill was during a period of time but I've gone through the site and can't seem to put my finger on that info.
Aren't the records a moot point with the continual course changes and reroutes?

Yo Jim....we flew US Airways on the way up ![Wink](http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/Smileys/Lots_O_Smileys/wink.gif) Hey
American airlines took me for 100$ one way from PHX to YYC. When i got there it had ben re-sealed with both TSA and Canadian customs tape. Then Canada customs took my dog spray away from me ( in with my bike ). It was quite amusing.
Cheers

Is your new bike going to be a 29er? Most stock racks ride a bit too low on a 29er when using mounts located on the dropouts, so, have Scott put the lower mounts on the seatstays and a lot of racks will work fine with no extra mods needed. This way it keeps things away fom the brake and it would make it easier if/when you move the sliders.
Good choice on the Quiring, btw.

Parks Canada may indeed be a pain in the butt, but there is no reason not to put more people on the route. Most of the route was made for much heavier duty use than a bike. (I'm Canadian, lived on the old route in Fernie)
I was thinking the same thing when I read the "too many racers for the route" comments. How can 40, 50, or 60 riders going through make any difference on roads that see constant moto/atv/non racing riders? I'll bet the Parks dept just wanted to make sure they weren't missing the fees that are paid by "official" events. And I'll bet anyone who has a business on the route would love to see more racers desperate to buy food/rooms/whatever.

have you cleaned your air filter - if it's dirty / clogged, etc it would make a difference. Likewise if it; wet it will not start.do you leave your fuel tap on the on positionf ro a long time? If so, it could flood the carb, so swithc fuel off, choke off, throttle off, and kick / start it over, the fuel int eh carbs will work their way through, unflooding them, then it'll start, so put the fule to on and remember not to leave it on.
this is really common with dirtbike style bikes, which your TDR is a derivative of the DT125R
Ah, so THAT'S why my bike was so slow going up Cabin Pass! ![Wink](http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/Smileys/Lots_O_Smileys/wink.gif)

Email sent. If someone shoots me an email of interest and ML does pick up the torch then I'll of course pass that info to Matt. This is important but probably won't happen quickly so there's no rush.
Best

The bad drivers (not unlikely to include DUI) and dog problems reported this year are not an issue between Abiquiu and Grants via the mapped route.
Ha! You just got lucky. By the way everybody: If you know of anyone who found an orange Sea to Summit dry bag with a bivvy and sleep pad in it somewhere on the Canada section- could you please contact me through this site? I'll pay!

Do you carry a chain or cable to lock up your bike? Do you hide your bike? As every gram counts it would not seem possible to carry any locking mechanism and if one does not, it must be nerve racking while carrying on the above listed activities. All it takes is one nut to ruin one's race and years of preparation.
A funny/ironic story for ya: the day of the race I was talking with Cricket, Jeff K, and another racer whose name escapes me but I remember he was from Cincinatti and loved bacon! Anyway, the subject of carrying a lock was brought up and we all thought it wasn't worth the weight, but I told everybody, "We'll probably be fine in all the little towns we hit along the way, but if you make it to NM, don't ever leave your bike unattended in Grants!"

Why aren't there more Rohloffs? Same reasons you don't see them much anywhere else- they are super expensive, heavy, and they feel terrible until they break in. Once broken in, however, they are pretty good. I saw three of them in the race, all ridden by guys from the US and they were running great!

Not sure what size SS setup my bro started out running (maybe one of you gear-heads can tell by the photo) ... but I know it wasn't his ideal choice, as his bike/frame came together at the last minute.
He had planned to switch it out at the Glacier Cyclery in Whitefish, though.
Yo, I'm pretty sure he said he ended up running the 20 in the back instead of the 18 because the 18 didn't have the wide spline interface. Prob a good thing he did that though!
