I think the weather we've had here in Colorado is an example how this "abnormally conducive conditions" are so flaky to get right.
Billy Rice hit CO earlier when it wasn't so conducive. Let's see how things shape up when the front runners hit it in a coupla days. I think they'll be fine, and the "good" weather will continue. NM is still a question mark (for me)
If New Mexico has received half the rain Texas has, it's going to be a mud fest.

It's really interesting how The tour Divide has become such an international race. The first American is in what 6th place? There aren't many sports that attract such a big international representation and also elite athletes without offering any money. However, it also looks like the crow could get way too big at some point. What do you guys think about capping the registration?

I know GerryL will laugh at this but I'm really bummed not to be able to ride this year. Ride through the desert as far as you can the first day is my only recommendation. It was kind of scary running out of water at noon last year. Also, don't waste too much time in San Diego. Good luck, it's a great ride!

It’s a little bit late in the race but I’d like to give a brief background about my sister Katherine Wallace. Go Kath go!! I had the pleasure of meeting Katherine at the Stagecoach 400, we rode for a little while together since we were riding at the same pace during the first day. She is super nice and talkative, also very strong and determined. I've been following her during the TD, it's so much fun when you know the person, that way they are not just blue dots. Go Katherine!

I have no idea how you could regulate teams if it was considered an issue.
Ollie and Craig cycled most of the way together, would they be a team?
I probably have had more people come in with some one else than as singles, often they have been cycling together for sometime, something happens and they break up, new groups re form. There may well be some people who start intending to cycle together, that does seem to be the exception, and unless you are on a tandem I wonder how many go the full way.
I think that the casual friendships that form during the race are the best part of the ride for many people.

It's obvious that Ezther is ripping it, but Isn't Katherine Wallace ahead of the Women's Record too? I'm also very impressed with her ride too.

No surprises with Ezter she is tough as nails. I wonder if she will drop some of the guys riding with her, further along the way. Don't be surprised if she makes a top 3.

I just wanted to do a quick post and thank everybody that helped put together this race, Mary and Brendan you rock! Craig, great support. Also Cale thanks a lot man, I enjoyed your company and Melissa's. Katherine it was a pleasure riding with you, even when it didn't last more than half a day. Also my guardian angels Chi, Gerry and Jason what a solid group, it's a shame that my life was calling me back in San Antonio. I would have loved sharing the finish line with you guys. I went to this race for the experience an got a whole lot more than what I expected. Next time I'll go back with a lighter set up (did I say go back?). Jose
