The last couple of years the nice lady at La Garita has opened her store, even on Sundays. It is only 20 are so miles on to Del Norte, but you could be pretty hot and dry at this time and La Garita is only a half mile off route.

Scott M,
I guess my Spot 2 will still work to be tracked for the TD? I have used it the last two years.

I finished in 31 days last year (64 years old) with Drew Stuntz (20 years old). I believe someone else finished a head of me who was 66 years old. Planning on giving it another go this year to try to get there in a more competitive time.

Chris, I also received access denied when trying to log on to the sign up spread sheet. It says I have submitted a request, but nothing yet?
Thanks,

I sent in my letter of intent at tourdivide.org a couple of weeks ago and received information, via email, on the 2013 course and that I would be put on the 2013 list.

Does anyone have any good advice for what gps to use.? I am thinking about going with the garmin 62s. I have not used any gps for guidance before, so really don't know what to go with. I am thinking something that uses batteries so I won't have to worry about charging it.

Thanks! Nice to hear something positive about the seal skinz socks. I plan to try them out in the creek this weekend.

I'll test the Seal Skinz socks this winter and early spring and if they don't work will give the Gortex a try.

KU jersey uh Smiley Yea it would be nice to ride with someone who is also doing the divide ride. I am not sure I know how to train for this. I am just about to take somewhat of a rest for this month. I have been riding quite a bit this summer and fall. Nothing too big, some 100 mile road rides and several single track mtb races. Just did the Berryman Epic Trail Race down at Steelville, MO last Saturday and ran the KC 1/2 Marathon the Saturday before and am a little tired. I have one more single track race at Knob Noster, MO on November 10th and plan to do the marathon portion. I am 64 years old so kind of slow. Smiley I got my reservation at the Banff Y dorm and they quoted me the 2012 rates which may change. It was $33:00 per night with a 10% discount. Hook me up on facebook if you would like and maybe we can share info on how to do this thing. My name is Hal Russell.

I also hope there is not any type of limit on the number of people allowed to start at the Grand depart for tour divide 2013. I have been planning this for two years and sure plan on being there for the 2013 start. Following this year's race has been great, can hardly wait till next year!

I really like the info about the different riders in the race. It's neat to kind of know something about them as your following along from home. I am really hoping to be there next year. Have been worrying about the bike I plan to use, a KHS Team carbon 29er hardtail., it's the one I have and can't afford another one. Bad choice or ok? Any opinions? Good luck to everyone still riding!

I am also rooting for Gary Glunt as I am also from Missouri. I have really enjoyed following the race as it has really been exciting following everyone! I plan on doing the race next year. The call ins are really great! Hang in there Gary!

Thanks for the info on the bags. I will check it out.

I recently bought a new KHS Team 29er (carbon hardtail) with intention of getting it equipped for the 2013 TD. Not much room for a frame bag. I race some single track so the intention was to get a bike I would use for both. Found it isn't any better than my old KHS Team 26 full suspension for racing. I am probably stuck with this bike (low budget) so hoping I can make it work. Looking to have someone customize a frame bag for me. Any ideas?

I am planning on doing the tour divide in 2013. Longest rides or races haces have been the Leadville 100 four times. I am 63 years old so will be 64 for the 2013 tour divide. I am training and trying prepare for it.
