Yes brilliant news about Greg. Great time too. Especially given the mechanical issues.

Greg May is going well again. Left Cuba. Great to see.

The leaderboard looks to me that it shows the correct order and finish times when you rank the times at Antelope Wells.

Yes I was using plenty of saddle cream. I think it was more like bruised sit bones which I was suffering from - rather painful! Not enough to stop me thankfully, but a real distraction all the same.

On my ITT in August 11 I had solid pain and swelling in both achilles at the end of day 4 - I thought this was going to just get worse and lead to the end of my attempt. But it surprisingly cleared up the next day.

I can only think the pain was due to both having the riding position not exactly right, so I fine tuned that, and also my body adapting to the long hours. By the end my legs felt strong, all be it I was tired. But I was saddle sore and had to resort to two pairs of shorts for the last week! Even then I had to keep standing up every two minutes.

And I was expecting some knee pain but as said I think that so much training and riding on the event strengthens them up.

It does make me realise that there is a big element of luck in whether injuries will flare up. And this puts me off a bit in trying the TD again - maybe I had my lucky run to complete it and should rest at that!

Maybe he has made a decision to avoid this section? I know from experience that it comes at the end of a long, tough segment. And there has been plenty of discussion here to say that it is very hard to do with a loaded up bike.

This all helps a lot. Thanks Tim. This is food for thought. I will have to decide what to do. Phil

Thanks Tim for the advice. Great Help

I would ideally like to do the AZTR 750, so as to ride with people, but I will probably struggle to get the vacation then. So that's why I was wondering about a plan B.

I am aiming for a two week trip, although I realise that this looks a tough trail to do. I completed a TD ITT last year and I have ridden the Colorado Trail, so thought this should be next!

I like the idea of deciding on the direction of the trip based on the time of year, to get the most favorable conditions. That is superb advice. So it sounds that if I can't do the race in April, a N-S trip in the Fall is best. Although is it possible to start S-N late April/early May, or is it too hot by then?

Thanks again

I am looking to ride the Arizona Trail next year. Which months are best for attempting this? I know that the AZTR 750 race takes place in the middle of April - is it possible to ride the trail before then, in late March, early April? Or I guess snow is too much of a possibility then. And is the Fall a decent time - say late September and October? Thanks for any advice on this.
