yeah, just talked to Jesse. Both Ethan and Jesse really went into survival mode by the end. Way to go, all three of them broke the record, am I correct? THANKS FOR BRINGING BURRITOS. JESSE LOVED HIS! Six minutes, not seconds. Still close! Brought them both breakfast burritos at the TH today. Missed Jefe though. Everyone surprisingly lucid, given the circumstances.

I knew Jesse was gonna really push through after his sleep and eating, and I was not surprised to see him gain a lot of time in the final push through the high alpine hell and then the downhill to town. My sweetie wanted to break 4 days, he does not care so much about winning. He has said that anyone that can go faster, more power to them. I just knew he could still reach his goal and/or break the record, which was part of the goal. Just so happened that two other fast duded also were out there for the same reasons.
Peace Out, and good luck everyone!

No Worries Owen, I still have a head injury and am not thinking clearly the internet is a bad place to be under such circumstances. I know you meant no ill will. Jesse has a strong finish in him if his plan is going as he intended. I totally agree with you about the lack of sleep of Jefe and Ethan, It is rather unbelievable, for me. Thanks and hope to share a beer sometime soon. Sorry Mrs. Jakomait, I intended no such sentiment. Jesse's a major stud as well. In fact, they're ALL studs. I was just uber-impressed by Ethan and Jefe's total lack of sleep through the highest portion of the race. Best of luck to Jesse as well. Quote from: omurphy on August 02, 2012, 04:51:30 AM Wow! I only got 6 hours of sleep last night and was feeling sorry for myself until I pulled up the CTR page. Holy hell, indeed -- Ethan and Jefe are amazing! One last biiiiig push today (though I suppose they've been pushing since day 1). Mighty impressive you guys. Good luck!
Maybe you don't think Jesse is in the race but despite being 10-30 miles behind, in a 500 mile race, and from what I know of him, Jesse's in it.

Yeah but have you seen how much he slept compared to Jefe? I mean he's only stopped up till Silverton for 2.5 hours! If Jefe makes it to the finish with that little sleep a pro adventure racing team should pick him up, the guy is a machine- I mean to not need sleep-- to pull off that amount of speed and distance w/2.5 hrs of sleep is really impressive. And I completely respect Ethan's history with this race and think he is very determined for the record and the win. They all are, esp the men/women at the front giving all they have within themselves to this race with little luxury, as intended.
My hold out of hope for Jesse is that he has slept more Jefe and than Ethan too. If anyone is gonna pull a keep riding to the finish, that sleep and rest can make all the difference too. It is why Jesse had to quit last year, he did not eat enough and his stomach killed him. I think sleep is a factor, but apparently for some human beings it is not. When I'm 40 I'll do this race, I'll take it seriously, but I expect to sleep at least 6 hrs out of 24. But I'm a DH racer, what do I know?
It's all good, everyone out there pushing it deserves props.

Maybe you don't think Jesse is in the race but despite being 10-30 miles behind, in a 500 mile race, and from what I know of him, Jesse's in it. I'm also hoping Karma is on Jesse's side. He's had a very stressful week(s) taking care of me, after breaking my fibula, tibia, and more and having surgery due to injury just last Friday (not even a week ago), the full anesthesia type surgery. So when I say taking care of me, I mean Jesse not only worked but played like full caregiver. Because of my injuries and immobility, he was not going to do the race and instead stay home with me, and I was like "hell no, go get that time goal you have!" So yeah, Ethan and Jefe are awesome, But I think for trailing so close, Jesse is not to be written off, he may also make 4 days even if he does not win. And a general note to anyone that may see him or have contact with him, you can let him know that I. Alicia, gave myself another head injury last night, I was weak and as I was going upstairs to make sure the door was locked, I lost stability, fell backwards down the stairs and woke up many hours later, after apparently hitting my head on the way down during my back-first fall. If anyone sees him tell him he had better not give up or slow down, tell him how lucky he is to be able to pedal at all LOL. Or to Harden the F Up, all those things will encourage him. Tell him his aching legs can make it another hundred miles, and to ride for me who cannot ride at all. I want him to keep going and not to quit and get home as fast as he can. --The injured wife at home

Jesse camped where he did because last year he did not eat enough in BV, and the segment going up after crossing HW 50 (Foses) is his least favorite, last I knew, so he did not want to make the same mistake and blow up on foses and then have to camp out waiting for his stomach and system to un-bonk. It really looks like he has learned from past mistakes, and putting it together. He is probably just chilling and waiting for the next downhill, little known about Jesse is he entered the sport as a DH racer many many years ago. I don't know what the DH is like based on where they are right now, but I'm sure Jesse will enjoy it. Go Fred Hankinson! He's one of Jesse's riding parter's and his wife is an avid cyclist too, all around good guy that can hammer! I haven't seen Jesse move from near Angel of Shavano Camground in nearly an hour. It appears only Ethan is going up Fooses at night in the rain?

Much Thanks! Plus, it makes keeping my foot elevated for another 3-4 days of on-the-couch-time much more manageable when his spot is moving. Thanks EVERYONE, I am also as a wife, glad he has the emergency button, esp during segments of the race are so remote.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ELSE TOO, stay safe and injury free.

Thanks Stefan, if you can round one up, that would be great, I need to be elevating my leg for another few days, so driving isn't ideal but I would if I needed to. Thanks so much for helping him get one that works so he is on the radar.

Jesse wants to make sure it is not against the rules to get a new spot? Please advise, at least that was in his message, he only wants one if it is legal. He said he was with Ethan but Jesse slept and Ethan kept going, sounds like because Jesse slept a few people are in front of him, but he in contention with the leaders from the sounds of his call. Calls: Jesse Jakomait called in from Leadville. His SPOT is down and he’s wondering if someone can pass one off to him in BV. Brad Fuller called in from Breckenridge. He lost his SPOT if anyone finds it. His number is 303 884 FIVE 9 ONE 4 if so. He’s fighting a cold but otherwise okay. And Toby Gadd called in from Breckenridge. He’s hoping to dry out! Sorry, I had this typed up in a different tab!

Considering that my husband (Jesse Jakomait or JJ) is doing this race while I am at home post surgery from 4 days ago for a broken tibia and fibia with lots screws, a plate, and pain to manage, he promised to try hard. My husband is supposed to be MOVING in this race, he promised none of confusion from last time, him staying in one spot for a long time....it is not good. If anyone knows where in good god's name he is out there, please post. It would be nice to know that he is in this race or what the deal is with him, I told him to go race instead of taking care of me so I have a vested interest, and need to know if I have to go get him somewhere. Thanks anyone /everyone. The Worried and Broken Wife. Go Jefe! Slow(er) and steady!
Besides JJ, Max Nuttleman is also showing an old point.
