Super Clean XL Surly Pugsley

Frame has the old geometry (huge triangle) that can fit a HUGE frame bag guided by a 100 mm centered fork. It has a shiny new powder coat and is ready for action! Whole thing, including hubs, bearings, and derailleur pulley wheels, has been recently overhauled. There is a NEW freehub body on the XT/Rolling Darryl rear wheel, NEW Clarks EXO hydraulic disc brakes, NEW Sram cassette, Two wheel sets! 82mm Holey Rolling Darryl rims laced to Deore XT (rear) and Deore (front) hubs riding on Surly Nate (rear) and Larry (front) tires, and Mavic 29er Touring rims offset laced to Deore XT hubs with Panaracer Rampage 29x2.35 tires. Also includes Surly Black Floyd tires for cruising fat and sassy around town Smiley

This rig is driven by a 3x7 drivetrain with XT friction/index thumb shifters. Front derailleur is LX, rear is XT. Shimano 22, Salsa 32 & 42 tooth chainrings are bolted to Race Face Turbine LP cranks and roll on an FSA Platinum DH bottom bracket.

It is finished with a black aluminum cockpit. A Cane Creek S-3 headset steers aluminum stem handlebars, & bar ends. An aluminum seatpost and clamp support a Brooks Flyer Sprung Saddle for a super smooth ride (saddle wrench included).

A Topeak rear rack and Specialized aluminum water bottle holder finish this awesome rig. Get it while it's hot!

Shipping Options--
1. Pick it up in Homer, AK
2. Stick it on the Homer Stage Line to get it as far as Anchorage or Seward http://www.stagelineinhomer.com (probably about $65)
3. UPS/FedEx: This is a two box endeavor with all the wheel stuff.

Sorry.  Package deal.  If it doesn't sell, I'm taking my own advice and will want those Parts.  By the way, the Black Floyds are really fun.  I did a century ride on them (ore often I get groceries on them), and while they are no 700x24s, they roll damn nice at 25 psi.  I very much recommend them!

2005 Surly Pugsley (XL)  $1300

Notes:
The Good--This old frame has the old geometry (HUGE triangle) that can fit a HUGE framebag (not included).  All hubs and bearings (including derailleur pulley wheels) have been recently serviced with Phil Wood grease.  There is a NEW freehub body on the 26x100 rear wheel.  New Hayes hydraulic disc brakes.  Carbon seat-post and handlebars.  Two wheel sets (26x100 & 29x23) and a THIRD SET OF RIMS (26x82)!  Also includes Surly Black Floyd tires for cruising fat and sassy around town Smiley

The (kinda) Bad--The 100mm rims are made by Choppers U.S.  While they are very ride-able, they are in pretty rough shape.  Whoever drilled them did a terribly uneven job...and after the red paint job.  There are a few nipple holes that are cracking, and a few dings along the edges.  That said, THEY STILL RIDE FULLY LOADED and I ride them all the time.  ALSO INCLUDED ARE LIGHTLY USED SURLY HOLY ROLLING DARYL RIMS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE!!!

The Ugly--This frame is solid but ugly.  It was originally purple, rattle-canned black, and now has lots of wear.  Somebody did some sort of modification to the seat tube water bottle cage mounts that has me baffled and renders it unusable (easily re-drilled to fix).  It has some surface rust, but no notable dents, kinks, or brakes.  It is as you would expect a 13 year old fat frame to look (shrugs).

Conclusions--Powder coat her nose, lace the Daryl rims, and take her to the ball!  This bike gives you lots of options.  It's a sweet, simple, serviceable build.  I would suggest Lacing the Daryls for snow, and then keeping the 100s for beach and mud riding.  It's nice to have a beater wheel set for corrosive conditions.

Pictures--I honestly don't have any and the bike is about 100 miles away in a storage unit right now.  I'll work on it this week and post some when I can.

Video--Here is some video with pretty good view of the wheels.  I run it sans front derailleur in the sand, but it has since been re-mounted.  http://youtu.be/wioaShfmjiI

Shipping--This is a two box endeavor with all the wheel stuff.  You pay for the more expensive of the two.

I'm looking for Rolling Daryl or Graceful Fat Sheba (or similar) rims on 135 hubs offset for a Pugsley.  I will consider Large Marge as well if the price is right.  No tires needed.  Must be willing to ship to Alaska.
