Wonderful video. I would be interested in gpx track of this trip. How many days did it take you?

Also what is your technique or gear harness to carry your bike on your back?

Thank You 👍

I can comment on my current gear for this weekend one night trip: temps forecast is 2 degrees Fahrenheit for Saturday night. There is probably 10 inches of snow on the trail we plan to bike:

Handlebars: Revelate Cuben Fibre Salty Roll with -20 North Face down bag mummy. On top of handlebars attached with 2 voile straps is my double wall Warmlite 2 person tent and thermarest insulated mattress. And a front bag with fiod, alcohol stove and flashlight.

Seatpost bag: Revelate - wool onesie, extra socks, gloves, wool top layer and down booties.

Feed bags: insulated bottle and nalgene nottle

Frame bag : Revelate ... empty right now. I don’t know what will end in there. I worry I underpacked...but this is not my first rodeo 🙂

My thinking is get a 29er wheels and head out. I believe you will find wheels but in the absolute extreme situation when the while town only has 26 inch wheels... well they will still fit onto a 29 inch frame ! It may look odd but it should work out .

OTOH a 26 inch wheel frame arriving somewhere with zero 26 wheels you won’t fit 29 inch wheels onto that 😃

Isn’t 650b versus 700 wheels a question of circumference?

You can still get wider rims in 700 if your frame accepts it?

Thanks. The poly sheet suggestion is great idea.

Yes I do not wear a backpack when bike packing.

I have a trip coming up in 2 weeks. My current idea is to use the rubber compression straps. Daisy chain 2 to go around. Use 3 sets. Well see.

One of the toughest feats for me is stuffing a winter sleeping bag into a SaltyRoll.

I'm looking for  recommendations for vertical and horizontal compression sack? Vertical straps to maintain the narrow profile to stuff a front bar Revelate Saltyroll

Thanks

Hello, newbie here. Interested in bikepacking, 2 bikes on order and now thinking about outfitting the bikes wit storage bags, seats etc... I don't know if I missed it but if we don't have a list of vendors who cater to bikepacking maybe it is time get such list started?
