I'm a fan of Orange Seal valve stems.  They come with a couple different gaskets for the back side of the rim, and replacement valve cores.

A Surly Bridge Club could be a great option at around $1200

Or I could go the easy route and forget stainless, go with aluminum, call it a night and quit wasting everyones time. lol

Narrow wide will work, I forgot to mention I was hoping for stainless so it maybe wouldn't wear as fast. All I can find is Aluminum/narrow wide.  I guess stainless is more the issue than narrow wide, sorry I was doing a few things at once when I posted...   Surly does make a 36t 94bcd, but they are a five bolt.
9  Forums / Question and Answer / Custom chainring on: April 30, 2015, 01:59:31 PM
I am doing a re-boot of my bike and am now running a Rohloff hub..the problem is that I was given a new SRAM X1 crankset (4 x 94 bolt pattern) to use and I can't find a non narrow-wide 36t or 38t chainring to run on it.   I ordered one from Warhawk Industries a month ago and haven't received a chainring, or response to my emails yet (nor has my card been charged).  Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I can get a chainring, or should I just forget it and use a different crankset?

I'm riding IHSMBR with the singletrack options in July.  I have from 6/28-7/18.  Looking for someone to join me on part, or all of the trip.  I would prefer not to do the singletrack options alone. 34 y/o M. Not a Tour Divide contender, but I have (solo)experience on GDMBR.
Haha, sounds like a personals ad.

Thanks for all of the useful info that has been posted everyone!  I'm on the list for doing an ITT starting on June 7. Plans have changed a little......I'm staring on June 1st now (I know super early) and I'll just be out there riding the GDMBR and not doing an ITT in the tour divide. However,  I still have a goal of around 27 days. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for the info it really helps lurkers like me. I'm arriving in Banff on May 29th. Maybe see some of you out there.

Yeah, I know. It would just be so easy to throw gear in and go. Also, hope its OK I put my info in on the spreadsheet and posted in here. I'm not a contender to win and I'm just racing myself.....I'm hoping that by riding while everyone else is racing it will help motivate me, as taking too long is not an option. And maybe meet some cool people too. I figure that by starting a week before most people, I'll eventually get collected by the "peloton" and won't be alone ad often. Lol

Hi Tim,
I'm planning to start on the 7th, but might be able to get in earlier and start on the 3rd or 4th. Was also looking to more of a ride rather than a race. I'm hoping for around 100 miles per day, but we'll see if that happens.....

Hey all.  I will be setting out on June 7th heading South.  I was going to build up a bike for this ride, but long story short, I may not have a job when I get back......so I'm going to use what I have in an effort to save some money.  The two bikes I have that would work are a Giant Anthem 29 and a Surly Troll.  I haven't decided which one to use yet....The Anthem is lighter, but suspension issues would be a pain even though I can rebuild the fork and shock if I had to (plus it makes me a p@#$y for not going rigid). Was thinking of using a trailer with the Anthem, maybe.  The Troll weighs more, and has 26" wheels, but no suspension to worry about.  Im having a tough time deciding because I am very comfortable on either bike, and have spent many long days in the saddle of both.  Regardless of the bike, my gear is nice and light. Input would be appreciated, keep in mind I'm hoping to finish in around 27 days.   Hope to meet some of you in June!
