Thank you very much.

You're most welcome. Of course they added more pictures just after I posted!

Hey folks, a super late question but is there anywhere on the web with photos of the racers, their bikes and finishers, ala Tour Divide? I want to check out people’s rigs in my prep for 2020 and I can’t really find much info on the CTR.
TIA.

Bikepacking.com did a feature on the bikes and riders:

What’s going on with John Schilling? He left Salida yesterday and kind of turned around and stop.

He's getting some well-deserved rest in a hotel.

Oh good!

My math says that is around 6 miles and 1000 feet of bonus climbing. headbang

It's very obvious!

Hopefully he realizes before he gets an extra 5000 feet climbing Montana Mountain.

At least it will be downhill when he turns around!

Still a huge improvement over the Hiker route only.

It looks like a cool app for sure.

My comment was more for anyone else who might buy it thinking they can race by following the app when they still need the GPX file loaded somewhere.

Not sure of the price on the non-demo-free (full trail) version

It says $9.99 on Android currently.

Also, I'm guessing it has the official bike route, NOT the race route.

Are these all part of the 300?

No. It's an option for the 750.

Re: Mud. The stuff north of Pine takes a while to dry out, like 48+ hours after a decent rain event. I've seen some recent pics from the Mogollon Rim and in ain't pretty. Lots of deep standing water currently...and it's raining AGAIN!! There's many areas of peanut butter death mud between Pine and Babbitt Ranch. Hopefully, things will somewhat dry out in 5 weeks. Could be a messy year.

I'm on the rim right now (Christopher Creek) and I'm not worried about mud at the moment!

1) Does anyone ever get in the extra miles riding down south to the border and back, just to cover the trail?

I believe the AZT 750 route is mostly a dirt road from the Mexican border to Parker Lake. So it's up to you if it's worth it.

"Pivot 429sl E-bike version" Did I read this bike spec correctly? Ebike on AZT750?

Pretty sure that's Max's little joke.

Fear of the unknown.

Can any experienced desert campers help set my mind at ease?  Thanks in advance!

I've lived and camped in the desert my entire life and never had a problem with creatures of any kind.

Ikons and Ardents are both popular choices.

I ran an Ardent EXO/TR 29 x 2.25 up front and an Ikon EXO/TR/3C 29 x 2.2 in the rear. Both tubeless. That's was big as I could go on the bike without rubbing, otherwise I probably would go with an Ardent 2.4 for both front and rear.

I ran a 30 with 11-46 Shimano and that worked well for me.

I vote for earlier.

In fact, if I take another crack at the 300, I'll may ITT as early as possible and start on a Monday.

Does anybody have plans to be back at parker canyon trailhead?  David collins lost his garmin 25 right at the start. It was recovered and left on the sign post. We were up in Phoenix and flying out so had no plans to go back. I'd be happy send postage money if anyone has plans to be down there and would be willing to ship it to me. I'll take it to him if so.

Hart, there's still some late ITTs so maybe try to contact them.

In related housekeeping news, I found a couple of items on trail on 4/5 or 4/6:
- a Schwab cycles water bottle (it was full, thanks for the water!)
- a cinch strap for a Revelate Sweetroll or something similar (with the little foam block and buckle)

Let me know if they're yours and I can mail them to you.
