Re Eric's supply of "from the road pictures", I have looked at them many times already and REALLY appreciate his entire effort (as well as all you other picture posters too). Though I have been through some of the areas many years ago and seen some of the vistas from helicopters and 4wd doing Air Force field surveys, I can much more appreciate and imagine the feelings you riders must be feeling at seeing such 150 mile vistas from a bike with only the water and food you carry to the next stop store. My hat is off to all of you, and a BIG THANK YOU for providing a source of triggering many really good memories for this old guy now just watching the dots....and studying your pictures....and always hoping for more.

Being a simple country boy from Oregon, I really agree with y'all in the "over thought" aspect of a cutoff time on the Tour Divide.
The present TD and it's rules encompass the whole enchilada of super fast efforts ...way to go MH... through to normal people who can say to themselves that i just met my own personal goal as ScottT just did ....also a super SS effort despite his lack of anything but a buffalo girl waiting for him at AW... which makes the TD fun for everybody....including even us armchair dot watchers.
If people want just a pure professional type time trial race over the same 2745 mile divide course, then they need to set up up such an event dedicated to that purpose called purely the "Great Divide Race".

Will next year's race have both a JP and MH ghost flag to to race after?
I don't care what the "official" record holder is regarded as, but I do not anticipate the MH flag dots will be first to reach AW for many races to come no matter what anyone calls it.
WAY TO GO MH!!!
