What a great idea, Mike.

The star nut might also work to remove outboard BB bearings to replace with Enduro bearings, I'll be playing with this idea!
Bike looks great!
I won't take credit for the idea... I posted a link to my source on Dirt Rag. I searched high and low before I damaged anything or fired up a torch.

Bike is coming along. Really enjoying it, a total change of pace from my long distance / brevet road riding.
After fixing that hub things are rolling along quite nicely.
Going to wait until spring to set up my dinglespeed - but for now I'm running 32/18 for local town trails.
Its too low on most of what I have easy access to - but just right for the steep (short!) sections of rocky rooty that is nearby.
