Hey, all,

I'm digging into this and not seeing a lot of selection in 29" hybrid-type tires. Schwalbe Marathon Almotion looks promising, albeit with a pretty smooth-looking tread. There must be other decent candidates...

I'll be using these on the Great Divide only, expecting a team/gear weight of 330 lbs.

Thank in advance for any suggestions!

Which rims do you plan to run?

Tubeless important?

Hey, MC,

The plan is to swap the Sun MTX33s for Enve AMs. I think the Sun rims are bomber, but too much for the divide terrain (based on a chunk I rode). Thinking of a durable tire and light tube combo, but open. Safely running higher pressure sounds good to me.

TIA for recos...

Take a gander at any of the Bontrager TLR tires.  They are durable, supple, and fast rolling casings that run well tubeless.  If I were in your shoes I'd use the XR-3's--probably 2.3 on both ends.  They run a bit small for their stated size--I think the 2.3 is a hair under a true 2.2.

FWIW, my priority is for durable first, supple second, and fast rolling third, hence the above recommendation.  There are tires out there that reverse that order if you so desire, like the WTB Nano and Wolverine.

Good luck,

MC
