Hey Guys,

I'm looking to get some new wheels that can do both MTB endurance races and Bikepacking. I was wondering if anyone has used Crest's for bikepacking and if so how have they felt? I was looking at the ZTR Arch as well but keep hearing how great the Crests are for racing and such! I've asked a few friends and they say they love them! I would most likely buy them with the Stans hubs and DT Swiss spokes. I'm 145lbs and and would be carrying abound 15lbs.

Thoughts?

I have run both Crests and Arches at your weight. Crests would be totally fine even with the dded 15lbs on a tubeless system. Enjoy

Hi,
I've been using 29 crests on DT Swiss 240 hubs for a few thousand miles.  They were built by Dave Thomas at Speeddream wheels in AZ with his choices of the right  spokes front/back   for my weight ~~150 # + gear and food water in bags and pack.    Dave was recommended by a friend who is a hardcore racer- good guy.   Spokes are a bit bigger than stock from Stans, as I recall.  No Problems.   Did re-set  spoke tension  once.  Wheels still dead true, after a lot of rough XC riding.    Hubs have held up great, bearings and  freehub pawls still smooth.

Cheers,
Jay

After realizing that my 155 lbs self had grown to nearly 200 lbs with all the gear on my back and bike, I got nervous about running my Crests.  I has able to get a good deal on the Arch EX wheelset so I ran those instead.  I probably would not make the switch knowing what I know now ...and having lighter gear then I had then.  Peace o' mind I suppose.

I'm 200lbs naked and I run crests for bikepacking.
Slightly buckled the from wheel when I had a stack on a local nightride but straightened out no problem and not had a problem since.
Been running the same wheelset for the last 2 years.

Also running Crests, same weight. No issues at all.
