I splashed out on a set of Salsa Anything cages and the porcelain rocket bags for a trip down the Munda Biddi trail in western Australia. The only problem i had is that the cages completely shat themselves on rough ground and i ended up having to reverse the broken brackets add some zip ties and clamp them straight into my forks. Which resulted in half the paint on my freshly painted troll being riped off ( sorry for being such a girl but hey i paid good money for the job). Is there any alternative to Salsas cages or do i buy a new pair and get someone to finish the job beefing them up with a welder?

I used JB Weld epoxy on all the welds before using them, still have to to for long a test ride. I have the same setup as you have and plan on using it on the Tour Divide, so I hope it will work. Last fall I went on a bikepacking trip with friends and one of the guy had one of his cage snap at the weld just like you are talking about, sure hope Salsa is working on a better design but that leave all of us early buyers with a bit of uncertainty when or if they will fail. icon_scratch

Like i said. If you do have bad luck like me carry a few zipties and reverse the brackets they were solid after that

I've had 2 Salsa Anything cages die after less than 800 miles of gravel grinding with 3 pounds in each cage.  I'm glad to find that someone is trying to makes something that might actually work for the long haul.  Please keep us up to date on how these bags are working out.

I contacted Salsa recently about my cages cracking/breaking near the mounting points.  I have yet to hear from them.

Just a head's up, King Cage was at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show with a prototype of the Manything Cage ("It can't carry anything, but it can carry many things.") It's very similar to the Salsa cages, and made in Colorado from Stainless or Ti!

Mine broke as well. I have heard Salsa is redesigning them and will warranty broken ones. They should be out in the spring. I bought Cleaveland Mountaineering Everything bags for my wife's bike. They worked great for our 10week tour in NZ . 2 40 bottles were no problem. Harry

I emailed Salsa asking if they are releasing a new version of the anything cage. Got an email back straight away and there is one due in June 2013. Interested in the king cage version will have to look into them.
