I am curious about which sections of the trail may be impassable due to snow for an early January route from the border to Oracle.

I also see that there is a MTB reroute for passage 9 (around Saguaro National Park East) and the reroute does not list water options other than my assumption that the Rincon Mtn Visitor Center will be open.  Can anyone speak to that?  This is a 50 mile section from La Selvilla picnic area (mile 122) to Hutch's Pool (mile 174) that I do not have water for.  Just reaching out for anyone that knows the route better than I do.

The Arizonans will be able to chime in as to the snow levels they're receiving, if any. From my experience both racing the 300 twice and touring the route in December 2015... Going over Oracle ridge may be impassable due to snow at that time of year, again if they have any. When I toured I stayed in Oracle a night and they had snow on the ground, of course things change year to year. I didn't go over Oracle Ridge touring, I didn't want to anyways, it's a better 'race only' route.

Saguaro National Park has a water tap outside where you to fill up at and that is roughly 30-35 miles from La Sevilla on fun trail. Otherwise popping into Tucson for a full meal off of Freeman Rd is a good option.

We are getting some snow up in the Catalina's, Oracle ridge will likely be a bit dicey. The control road gets icey but would be a safer alternative.

There would likely be some snow in the Canelo Hills but nothing to worry about.

The bike route never gets to Hutch's pool, that's in the wilderness. The spigot at the Bigalow trail head on the Catalina highway will be shut off but there should be Creeks running with snow melt.

Great.  Thank you for those that have replied already.  Is there a better way to check the route for potentially impassable snow sections again closer to my departure date?  Is there a site for something like this or is this forum as good as I'm gonna get it?

I'd be checking regional forecasts and snow conditions online frequently for places near the route.

If ski valley opens that would be an indication of more snow http://www.skithelemmon.com

About a month ago a few of us rode up the Control rd & down Oracle Ridge. There was 3-4" of snow on the upper reaches of the Ridge, wasn't too bad. Any more than that I'd probably reconsider a different route. The Control rd going down in snowy/icy conditions will be dicey at best too. It was really slippery on our climb up and that wasn't much snow/ice. Just an FYI.

Here's the ride report: IditaRidge
