I did a 8 day ride using a Camelbak Raza, couldn't get real comfortable with it. Are there any out there more geared to bikepacking? thanks Tony

I swear by Wingnut packs...I've got a couple of different sized ones, the 3.0 is the one I use for bikepacking though. The side pockets are very handy as you can get stuff out without taking the pack off. The mesh pockets are good for stashing things when you're off the bike too, things like gloves, gadgets, rubbish etc. Another thing is that they are made of sail cloth, this means they are light and more or less waterproof. The little xY pouches can come in useful too. I keep a small camera in one and use another to hold a small toolkit when racing.

I second the Wingnut recommendation. I've used one for a couple of years now, and it's been great. Lots of nice features, lightweight, comfortable, etc. Just finished the CTR with one, and it was perfect.

Osprey Talon I've been happy with it for years now. Certainly one of the more popular ones that I see at the AZT races.

I used the Osprey Talon 22 on the CTR and was happy with it. It very light compared to other packs, roomy and seemed to handle rough treatment. My only negative comment is that it has one main large compartment (there is one smaller compartment on the top plus the outside pockets) in which I put most of my stuff. Whenever I stopped, I often had to dump half of it out to find what I needed. Next time, though, I will try to pack all my gear into 4-6 bags or so (in different colors, clear bags or some other way to differentiate between the bags) so its easier to find what I want w/o dumping most of it on the ground (and, organization-wise, it is better this way). Plus the bags will help keep my stuff waterproof.

I'll throw out the Mountain Hardwear Fluid 26 pack if you are looking for something a bit cheaper. I just got mine this weekend, so I haven't gotten a chance to test it out while riding. However, it sits on my back comfortably when I threw in a load and seems fairly similar (though a few oz heavier) to the Osprey Talon 22. It garners good reviews doing some reading. Currently available on REI-outlet.com or Sierra Trading Post for $70. If you spend $100, you get 25% off at Sierra Trading Post, so not a bad deal.

BTW, Osprey has an "All Mighty Guarantee" that is a lifetime warranty on all their bags. They stand behind their product, even if that means sending you a new pack. Best bags/packs I have ever used.
