Hello,

Myself and two friends are looking into doing the Banff to the Montana border section of the Divide ride next summer. Along with the maps that are available, does anyone have any suggestions on distances per day, stopping points with food options (small towns, gas stations, etc.), ease of navigation/GPS, etc.?

We are looking to do this as a fun trip, not a full blown race pace, and to get our bikepacking gear more dialed in. This would be fairly lightweight gear-wise, using bivi sacks, lightweight sleeping bags, etc.

Anyone who has done this leg, or as a stand-alone trip, any info would be of great help.

Thanks!

My Nephew and I are doing your exact plan and route this year so we can report to you. We are sidetracking into Glacier and Yellowstone. We have set aside 30 days for the leg from Banff to Jackson Hole, which will hopefully give us the flexibility we need to do some fun off the bike. You can follow out journey which begins on July 1st, 2010 on jazztadventures.blogspot.com
We will have a link to our spot tracker. We plan to be opportunists, sleeping and eating in a wide variety of ways. So, I am sure you will want to call us once we are finished.  BTW, we pulled the GPX file for the route from the racer thread.  Jeff
