I bought a Trek FX3 for commuting. But now I want to make a 400 KM trip from Rotterdam (The Netherlands) to Verdun (France).

I have NO biking experience at all. So any tip/link is welcome. My main question right now is:

What is the best planning tool/app/website for a long distance trip that avoids big roads?

I use a few different apps to plan/research dirt routes, but for a dirt/paved road route I?d use Google Maps. Free, accessible and you can export the digital route for use in portable devices. In the US, anyway.
