Has anyone fried this sleeping bag? I was set to order one by some reviews that I read then saw more reviews on another site that were 50/50 so now I'm rather undecided. I'm a Clydesdale, 6' 5" 260 lbs & want some room, looking at synthetic, under $200, good to around 15-20 degrees & packs small for bikepacking, any other ideas? People either love or hate the Encampment, I'd hate to order & be a hater!

Opinions are likely to be the same here as the reviews you found elsewhere. Sleeping bags are tough since they really vary per user. I'd suggest buying from a place like REI where you can return it if it doesn't work for you.

BA sleeping bags are the only product of theirs that I am not a fan of. Maybe because I am spoiled by WM bags.

i have the fishhawk. heavier than the western mountaineering stuff. lighter than some of the off the shelf big name gear stuff.
was able to get it for reasonable price with the pad on a gift card, so for me, it works.

do i want something that keeps me warm into the 30s that packs to the size of a soda can or nalgene bottle?
yes.

can i afford it?
right now, no.

I ended up with an REI sleeping bag and pad...

I'm waiting on the new MTB frame to show up and then I'm off to try these goodies out in the field!

Paxton Coyote:

I haven't used the Big Agnes Encampment, but I have been using their Lost Ranger 15 for about three or four years now. I'm also using one of BA's 15 degree mattress with my bag. I'm on the "bigger" side (6', 210lbs) and have the "long" version of the bag. I love the system! No more sliding off my ground pad in the middle of the night, plus it is the most comfortable sleep I've ever had camping. The bag/mattress combo even fits into my USGI bivy sack, with room to spare.

I highly recommend Big Agnes. I would definitely recommend that you get the "Long" sized version too.

Take care,
