I'm having trouble finding a seat bag that won't tire strike. Even though Revelate's website says the Pika will work, it doesn't. Any recommendations? What seat bag works well (and is durable!) on a small 29-er frame? I need something pretty sturdy.
Thanks,
Sarah

Porcelain Rocket has a small bag - Charlene which requires only 6" between the sear rails and tyre, and 3" of exposed seat post. If that is still too big, perhaps you should consider a rack and micro panniers?

Those are the same specs for the Pica. Try wrapping a strap around your seat rails and then sucking up the part that hits on your tire. Worked on my wife's bike. Or as said a light rack and strap a dry bag on top.

I tried the strap - not exactly a perfect fix.

my partner's bike has the same problem with lack of clearance over her back tire. she has roughly 17cm which by the numbers should work with some bags but in reality doesn't when the bag starts bouncing. i tried the strap idea cinching it tight over the tire but you are right that its not ideal and it required constant attention and retightening. i emailed with scott last fall from porcelein rocket about a mr fusion type solution to hold the bag up in a more stable way but he kinda blew me off so i ended up just ordering the thule pack and pedal sport rack cause it was on sale for $50 last week at bike shop hub. she is going to either continue to use her seatbag with this "floor" under it or just strap a dry bag on top of the thule and be done with it... we haven't done any fitting/testing yet to figure out which makes more sense yet but most likely the dry bag.

A rack really isn't idea for races, though. Ugh. Once again the bike industry absolutely sucks for small women. Go figure.

why wouldn't the thule sport rack i mentioned work for a race assuming it was solid and stable? with a dry bag strapped on deck it would be similar in size, weight and capacity to a large seat bag like the viscacha.

The bike industry doesn't have the power to make two physical objects overlap without interference no matter how much they want to. You can still get quality 26ers that would buy you a bunch more saddle to tire clearance. Although I would just go with the rack and dry bag solution myself.

Try http://www.roguepanda.com/ you seen him a a photo w/ a tape measure alongside of the seatube & you get a custom sewn bag for less than the cost of the major bag makers & better quality too IMO. Sent from my A1-810 using Tapatalk
