After making/buying/evaluating different mounts for my eTrex 30, I settled on the Garmin branded mount in the mentioned link above [and below] and modified the way it mounted [I was really bummed that the RAM mounts from my old HCx didn't work. The new RAM mount for the 30 is bulky overkill.] My stem is short enough [90mm] that the rear of the Garmin mount hits at the stem cap. I made a spacer that lifted the rear and tilted the mount forward by using epoxy putty [the cookie dough stuff that you cut and kneed to cure]. Put some cellophane over the stem and bottom of the mount, kneed a bit the putty, shape it as desired, let it cure, remove the cured piece and cellophane, file and sand the rough edges of the cured epoxy, perhaps put a layer of electrical tape over the stem [for traction where the epoxy piece will lie] and install with cable ties. I also use a short leash tied to something on the bars in case GPS gets knocked loose [which is has].
