Hello All,

I'm new to this bike touring thing and ready to get my feet wet.  I was searching panniers and other equipment online and came across a smaller company that i can no longer locate online.  This company teamed up with salsa bikes and a few other companies to create different types of bags for bike touring.  The equipment that this company sold were handlebar bags, large bags that clip to seatpost (dont know the proper terminology) etc...  Moderately priced and a fairly small operation. This was only several days ago so i know they exist!  This might be an extremely broad question, but can anybody help with the name of the company??  Thanks in advanced.  Also, is it possible to load down a carbon, race oriented mountain bike for touring??

The one you're referring to is Revelate Designs.

There is also Porcelain Rocket and Carousel Design Works for similar type bags. I think there's a couple of others, too, but they escape me at the moment.

No panniers in the bunch and no racks needed, but a much better packing system if you are using minimal lightweight camping gear.

I don't think Revelate Design is making custom frame packs or at least at the time I emailed Eric he was not taking orders.

Carousel - I emailed and called, but never heard back.

I went with Cleaveland Mountaineering to make a frame pack and top (gas tank) tube pack for me. Jeremy lives in Colorado and he does this part time while he attends college. He is very easy to deal with and the packs look great.

Here's a link he started in the "classified" section as well.

I second the choice for the Cleaveland Mountaineering bags. I emailed back and forth with Jeremy, (the guy who sews the bags) dialed in what I wanted and they were at my door in a few weeks. I have used them on a dew short trips...they look good and perform super. Highly satisfied. I ordered the seat bag and bar thingy.
