Hi, I am looking at a second hand fargo, however the top of the head tube has been shortened by 10mm. I wouldn't have thought this matters, but I notice that  the bottom part of the head tube is slightly thicker than the rest of it. Is this modification likely to be a problem?

The "thicker" part might be due to changing from straight to tapered steerer fork support. I am pretty sure that was a 2013 model year change. Not sure how (or why) anyone would have shortened the head tube itself. The Fargo head tube has gotten progressively shorter from the factory after the first year in order to support suspension correction. 2011 - 2013 would have been corrected for 80mm of travel. 2014 would have been corrected for 100mm of travel.

Some photos of the headtube on the bike you were looking at would help a lot.
