I'm just curious if anyone here has been bikepacking in the North American Arctic (Alaska, Canadian territories). Long distance, off-road treks. If so, where did you go? How long? What type of bike and equipment did you use? What were the biggest challenges of doing it?

I've done similar trips in other environments and was thinking about doing maybe a 1 month trip some time. I'm thinking of doing it in the summertime but I'm interested in hearing from people who have done it in any season. At the moment, it's just an idea so I'm curious to hear from others who have tried this or something similar. In particular, I am interested in hearing what the difficulties are. (I know there will be plenty so I want to make sure that I'm not overlooking any of them.)

Potentially the biggest difficulty is finding a suitable route for bikes.  Roads are few and trails are nil.  You have to get really creative, and knowing people that live and travel in your desired area of exploration helps.
