Maybe this is a closely guarded secret, but I'd like more info on lights.  I'm making a first attempt at a mostly unknown route in June.  We're (myself and a friend) are trying to establish a fast time, so some night riding may be involved.  I've browsed around the site and haven't seen much.  In an ideal world we'll be out for 3 days and 2 nights and can resupply at least once or twice, so using AA's is ok.  I'd like to go fairly cheap and since we're bikepacking, super high power isn't necessary (i.e. we won't be hauling ass).

I also might have a line on a generator powered light to borrow.  Anyone try this route?  These are really high quality.  Thanks in advance.

Quite a few people use the Princeton Tec EOS in conjunction with another light. I use a AA powered Dinotte 200L, other people use some of the Fenix lights and there are plenty of high powered LED homebrews in operation too.

mtbr.com forums have an active section for lighting. If by generator you mean hub dynamo, they are a great option especially for the new generation of LED lights available. Otherwise, checkout holders for torches, you'll probably want to carry a torch anyway.
