To speed up TF pro, it seems I need to store maps locally.

Any way to tell it to keep the maps / images that it is downloading as I work so they are readily available? Or do I need to do a batch download?

And - any way to bring in the maps from my National Geographic Topo software, which I've already copied over?

TF already stores every map you download in your local cache.  The images never expire either, so you always have them.

You can use the 'batch download tool' to download large areas ahead of time, too.

Topo!'s format is proprietary.  I don't know of anyone that has cracked it, and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be legal to use the maps in that way either.  They are pretty controlling of their maps.

Thanks.

I was thinking not of the Topo! maps (vector) but of the National Geographic Topo! that I have - basically looks like the Topo maps that TF uses (and are in use elsewhere on the net). I think they are JPGs that are somehow coded into the software...

I didn't know that TF keeps the maps in the background. I'm downloading a big chunk today, of my normal riding area. We'll see how it works out.

You may need to update TF to the latest beta, as terraserver-usa.com is no longer responding (now msrmaps.com) :

Right, the raster maps in Topo! is what I was talking about, too.  Not legal to pull them out and use them.  They are nice quality maps for sure.

Any knowledge of using Nat Geo Topo! Xport Pro to export maps and load them into Topofusion?

Xport Pro should work just fine -- you can export to jpeg and import as a user map in TF.  You will have to manually calibrate it though.  I am working on some auto calibration options, like worldfile with a jpeg.
