mounted to front shocks using "p clamps" aka simple Adel hose clamps.

On my simple (I'm a rookie!) 2014 Trek 3700 Disc I'm wanting to get weight off the back tire and more towards the front. I'm thinking of using the CEB set to mount either water or 5L dry bags to each fork, even maybe adding a bottle rack to each as well. I try to reuse 20 oz. Powerade bottles until too funky.

Seem the fork shocks are about 40mm OD, about 1 9/16" clamps.

trying not to put ALL the weight in the panniers on the rear rack.

Are you asking a question here? I have used mine extensively. Work great, but am considering selling mine. Let me know if you want a used set.

Wondering if I could do something like this on the front, two 5L bags and two bottle mounts, but mounted onto the shock body.



What color are yours?

First test ride with load, had extra 25 lbs on the back, I'm 250 lbs.....

I have never seen bags and bottles mounted on a fork til now. I would be a bit concerned with the amount of weight on the fork. With 2 bottles and cages you are over 4 pounds. 5 liter bags could add up quickly. You also need to make sure nothing hits your down tube. Other than that it should work. Have you looked into a handlebar system? I usually have water on my fork legs and my tent and clothes on my handlebars.

The 5L bags as packed are 3 lbs each thanks to nifty REI travel scale I got on clearance, then add the weight of each CEB and mount, then see about adding extra water bottle and mount per side.

I plan on the tent + rain gear on the handlebar, I might try a Jones H-Bar later, mainly just to have better place to mount lights.

Bunch of trail/trial and error, I know I'll start out with too much. But only planning 40-50 PAVED miles a day starting out, then start trimming back and hitting some gravel backroads and such.
