external charger for edge 800 on TD

hey guys i am curious if any of you have any thought about using the edge 800 touch screen for the tour divide race in june. the only thing i would need is an external charger. does anyone have any experience with this? i have an older 60csx also but would like to use the 800 if possible. thanks!

Does the edge 800 go into 'recharge mode' when you connect it, or can you still navigate with it while it is recharging like you could with the old 305's
