I've been planning a quick out and back overnight trip for Memorial Day weekend with some friends.  My brother and I have a lot of experience riding (not camping) and the other four  riders have very little experience.  After about 50 different emails I finally just created a site with all other info for us:

Yes, beer is important.  I need to call the store we're stopping at to get more water to make sure they sell it.
