Hey. long time reader of the forum but have only posted one post before.
Have done a couple of bike touring trips and find that i run out of gears on the lower end after a couple of days cycling in the legs and some gear on the bike. Also i've been reading Mikkels blog and am starting to become really inspired to go to Norway (I am from Sweden) where i think i will really need the lower gears.

I am currently running a compact chainring with an 11s cassett on the back with 11-34 (I think icon_scratch )
The shifter i have is a shimano st-rs685 and when asking at the LBS and doing some research it seems like this shifter is not compatible with 11 speed mtb shifters or with any derailleurs that can accomodate anything bigger than a 32 on the back.
Does anyone have any information or workarounds that could help me with this problem?

I tried a search but couldn't really find anything that helped me a lot.

Thanks for any help.
Michael

Look into the Wolf Tooth Goat Link and Tanpan. They allow you to use a larger cassette, up to 11-46 I believe.

Alternatively you could look at Gevenalle shifters. I believe they have a hydraulic model now.

Yeah the Tanpan looks like it might be what i'm looking for. Not looking to change anything else on the drivetrain than the rear derailleur and cassette.
Does anyone have any experience using these?
What is the shifting performance like? Mind you my shifters are never indexed properly anyway so i'm probably used to shitty shifting performance anyway =P
