Denver Accommodations/Trail Head Access ???'s

Hi guys,

I've got a flight landing in Denver tomorrow, Thursday August 16 in the later evening around 9:00pm. I've got two quick questions:

1) Are there any cheap hostels/hotels that you could recommend that would put me near REI so I can pick up a couple supplies before hitting the trail towards Durango? Or are there any hospitable fellow bikepackers in the Denver area that would be willing to put up a friendly Canadian for a night? (maybe a bit much to ask)

2) What's the best way to get to the Waterton trail head? I've read about a complex system of trains and busses, is this way bike friendly?
