I usually use my garmin edge 705 its simply I can upload see everything garmin connect. I now have etrex 20 there lots screens. it automatic start tracking not sure about. I am able to follow a route and get one on there. When I upload to garmin i get a bunch files. Is there tutorial for ease of use.

You might want to start with the manual. A Google search brings up videos etc. It shouldn't be too hard to find helpful resources. 

I suspect you can turn off the auto start; I know I can with my Oregon 600.

I have read the manual I just thought someone might have made it easy. I just don't like having to delete all the extra files versus when I use my garmin edge its just one upload and has my time miles speed. This you load and have to reset trip counter start the stop watch.
