Anyone notice any appreciable reliability difference in comparable levels of Rockshox versus Fox. I have a Fox on a Niner steel hardtail, and have sent it off for rebuild a couple of times (lots of miles between).

I plan on rebuilding 3-4 months before my TDR run and customize for my weight and bikepacking, but are they comparable in ride and durability? Seems like Fox is a little more proud of theirs.

Much depends on which models you are comparing, but overall, both are fine products. I have multiple bikes with forks from both brands, and once dialed in, I'd say performance is comparable. Over the long haul, I'd say my Rock Shox forks have sometimes needed more frequent love and rebuilds, but there are so many variables at work, I couldn't say if that was the norm. Oddly enough, one of my least favorite forks of the last few years was the most expensive, a Rock Shox SID WC carbon. I attribute that only to a sensitive setup, so that could be as much operator error as anything. How's that for a non-helpful, overly honest response? Smiley
