Excuse my ignorance...

But does bikepacking include the use of a BOB trailer or is it confined to all gear being carried on the bike?
I'm asking because I was going to post info of my setup on 'Personal setups' but noticed there was no reference to trailers.
Thanks,
Al

Bikepacking can be what ever you want it to be, that said in another post I did say that I thought that bikepacking should include going off road into places that backpackers might go. As opposed to road bike touring strictly on pavement, as you don't see many backpackers doing their hikes along all paved routes. It is totally possible to ride trails with a Bob not sure how many post include them but here's at least one that has some pics of me with the Bob in Northern Arizona

One of these gents also used a bob. Looks like it had a few limitations.

I'm looking forward to your Bob setup. I've looked at them and wondered how well they work. Specifically, I've pondered whether it would be possible to use one to carry gear for family a bikepacking trip. Does yours work OKl on rough trails?

I was able to do a fair bit of single track with the bob that said they do have limitations. Load rating is 70lbs but you wont be riding much with a load that heavy. I could see pulling the load for 2 pretty easily that is if both people have light weight gear. I think it just depends on the trail and how much you are willing to push, pull, drag the rig. I should think you could go most anywhere if you are willing to slog it out. One big limitation is super tight turns or even not so tight turns if the trail is narrow just like pulling a trailer with a car. Though if you had a group and someone behind you they could help keep the third wheel on. I was amazed at some of the stuff I was able to pull off with about 40lbs on, over logs slipping between boulders and the like.

Guys,
I can't seem to get onto the Personal setups page even though I did the Wordpress register bit.
I've been known to pull loads up to 50 Kg (110 Lbs), mu BOB is a 'little' modified though.
I'll put a pic here as a teaser.......
