Hi, I am planning my first cycle camping trip this summer round Scotland and am wondering if I am being too optimistic for distances I can cover. I am happy to be away for 3 weeks and am used to cycling around 80 miles in a day on a road bike. With all my kit I expect to be able to cover 60-70 miles in a day. Even so is doing 1000 miles possible? Everyone seems to think I will not manage this. Thanks, Emma

Years ago I rode a mtn bike from Minnesota to Mississippi and hauled a trailer. We covered right around 1000 miles. I did not have modern, light weight, gear like we have today and it took us (and my riding partner was not up to my distance level) roughly 3 weeks of actual ride time.
The trip itself took 3 months.

 So I believe it's doable. 😁
