I am using a Revelate Tangle framebag and trying to setup my bike to still have access to the seat tube and down tube bottle cages.  I plan on carrying most of my water in a hydration pack, but would like to be able to use these bottle cages for a little extra
H2O, or possible some drink mixes.  Even using short bottles it is difficult to get the bottles into the cages when the frame bag is full.  Anybody know of some bottle cages with the bolt eyelets mounted relatively high on the bottle cage?  If I can even gain
1/2" or 3/4" it would make a world of difference.  Bonus points if they are side access cages!

Thanks!

These might be the ticket.  They look like they place the bottle pretty centrally over the bolt holes, but they also have some room that it looks like you could drill yourself some new holes a little higher up to squeeze another 1/2" or so of room out of them.  Or if you're really desperate, drill a hole somewhere in the middle of the mounting plate, bolt that to the lower water bottle boss hole, and then just hose clamp the lower portion of the cage to your seat tube...

My other advice would be to just make the leap to a full frame bag, which then could hold a larger bladder, or even two separate bladders, not to mention tools, tubes, etc...

I have custom Revelate frame bag designed around my water bottles.  I am not a hydration pack person. I corrected the issue of removing/inserting the bottle by using these from Specialized:

The cages allow the bottles to be removed/inserted through the side of the cage.  The cages are available in right or left exit.

I used them all last season with out an issue.

When we do a Di2 install on road bikes, Shimano often send us a cage relocation bracket - rarely use it, but I've used them a lot on my bikes with framebags and tangle bags. This effectively offsets the frame mounts up or down a few inches. Part number ISMBA01, the SM-BA01, called a mount adaptor, bidon cage positioner.

There are plenty of side entry cages, Topeak make a pivoting bottle cage too.

Velocity used to make their Velocage, not sure if you guys still get them stateside? The bolt mount clamp design allowed the cage to be positioned up or down independently of the bidon bolts.

^great info Area54!  That right there looks like it's exactly what he needs!  A quick google search and it looks like several places have the adapter in stock, and only like $20...  Chalk another win up for the bikepacking forums!  haha
