Newbie ALERT, my 1st post.

I was wondering if anyone was using these trailers along with bike racks and panniers.  In theory I think they should play well together, but I am not finding many photos or videos with both being used together and I just want to confirm I am not missing something very important.

About me, newbie at this bike packing / touring stuff, want to combine bushcrafting / ourdoors-manship with my bike, (Trek Shift 3) and ready to by one of the two trailers mentioned this weekend.  No long trips planned in the near future, but would like to start training with the setup.

Any Pros / Cons about this setup would be appreciated.

Thank You,
Steve

I've used panniers but not a trailer for road touring.  I think the reason you won't see both used at the same time is that you rarely would need that amount of carrying capacity for anything short of expeditions in remote areas.  As an example, for an overnighter I was able to carry food, clothing and shelter for both my wife and myself with a traditional pannier set up.  All the different carrying systems have drawbacks, so you just weigh those against your needs.

I've used a lot of different setups. basicly, combining a yak with backrollers is possible, you can haul allot of stuff, in my example the needs for 2 persons on one trip.

Usually I use or a set of backrollers (4 ) for me and a set of 2+2 for my wife, or my bob yak for smaller trips. For trips with the Brompton or fuel ex I use a set of handlebar/sadle bags.

When my wife cant ride with her bags I take the yak as an extra platform.

What's a backroller?

@ BPESCHKA  https://www.ortlieb.com/en/produkt-details/?produkt=backroller_classic&list=hinterrad&slug=radtasche&clearname=Rear%20Panniers

the setup shown is a bit overloaded. at that moment in time we needed to bring a lot of medical stuff for my wife, so I took the full load and added a roll-top bag ontop of the BoB bag (which was also a bit overloaded...).
