Hey all...I'm trying to find out what you guys have found works best (i.e. light, durable, etc.) for mounting water bottles on your front suspension forks (this is in addition to my frame bag msr). I've seen a few "kits" like the Zefal Gizmo but if someone has experimented with these and can either point me to a good product or something they've put together themselves, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

When on tour several years ago, we mounted a pair of bottles to my wifes touring fork, with one end bolted onto the rack mount and the other held on with a hose clamp. I wonder if you could use 2 hose clamps? Start with one of those rubber spacer things (like that comes with handlebar mounted computers, lights, etc) and wrap that around the fork then place the bottle cage and clamp the hose clamp over the hole where the bolt usually threads through. Hose clamps put down a lot of force, so it might work, particularly if they were kept from slipping down by being mounted above some bulge in the fork leg.

Last year for touring I did just what your talking about. I used a cut up tube as a "spacer" and than used two water hose clamps. You may want to put some elastic cord on the cage to help retain the bottle.

the two fish are very solid. I love them. They are a little heavy, but that's a small price to pay. Haven't tried them on my front fork, I'd worry about the torsional load, would probably be fine, but worse case scenario you could us an extra couple of zip ties.
Mostly I personally use them for throwing a third bottle underneath my down tube on my aluminum and carbon road bike when I'm going out on multi-day rides / sub-24-hour / 48 / 72 hour rides.
Instant bottle anywhere, and they are very solid with their huge rubber grommet that raps tightly on pretty much any diameter bar.

that's good to know I was thinking of getting the wife one of those set-ups for her '03 Cannondale Jekkyl, just wasn't sure how well they worked. I've got an '11 Fargo, water bottle mounts are no longer an issue for me!
