I was wondering if you could tell me how much a frame bag impedes your cycling? More specifically do your knees tend to knock against it as you pedal?

thanks

I've never had an issue with that happening, and my frame bag is built to be a bit wider at the headtube.

i built a hard-sided frame bag (box, really) that is about 5 1/2 inches wide, and my calves brush it maybe once per hour.  but i think different people might have different biomechanics.

No knocking on mine, a custom bag from Phantom.

Framebags - no. Gastank type bags - yes, but only when climbing out of the saddle - knees tend to rub on the sides.

I have the production Revelate frame bag on a Surly Ogre. There's no problem with my knees rubbing, but my calves tend to rub when fully loaded, particularly my right calf. I wear lightweight ski socks or leg warmers to alleviate the issue. As a frame of reference, my calves also rub againts my water bottle cages on my road bike but not to the extent that it causes me any problems road biking. The frame bag is secure enough on the frame that there is no discernable movement when climbing out of the saddle, most of the rubbing takes place while in the saddle.
