I am looking to get back up batteries for a panasonic KP-18650-PAN29. It is a protected Li-ion, 3.6V 2900mAh (though I have no idea what this means!!). I want the same battery so it gets the same run time.
I have yet to find a site selling the exact same battery name but I found a site (intl-outdoor.com) selling "panasonic NCR18650 protected" with 3100mAh. It makes no mention whether it is Li-ion (the picture of the battery also does not show that it is actually panasonic written on it). Is this the same type battery? Any drawbacks to getting this one? Anyone know about batteries to help an ignorant newb? Thanks!!!
Protected batteries just have circuitry built into them to prevent damage, unprotected are just standard batteries.

http://www.lighthound.com/AW-18650-Protected-2900-mAh-Rechargeable-Lithium-Battery_p_3671.htmlNo, they are not Panasonics, but should do just as well. May want to contact NiteRider (they do use the Panasonic branded version in one of their lights) and see if they will sell you one, though I hate to think what the cost would be!
