I'm looking for some free US topo maps for my garmin Vista HCx. I basically only need maps for the states that the Tour divide route goes through + the Canadian portion.
What is out there and what are your experiences with them. ANY experiences would be welcome, good AND bad.
I'm not very smart with electronics  icon_scratch so as much info as possible would be welcome.
Oh, I'm using Mapsource and basecamp as software...

Thank you.

www.gpsfiledepot.com

You'll find links for all the US states, for a free Canada Topo Map the best one is from Ibycus, see here:

You'll need a torrent client installed, like utorrent, it will take several hours to download the map while simulataneously uploading the bits you have to other downloaders.

Thank you for the reply.  thumbsup
I just downloaded a Montana map from www.gpsfiledepot.com and it seems to have worked out fine. Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico are up next. Gpsfiledepot directed me to the following site: http://www.miscjunk.org/mj/mp_wytopo.html and they have maps of all the states I need. I took a quick look on the Montana map and it's detailed enough for TDR I guess.

I have to admit that you totally lost me with the following though:

Don't worry about it though, I'll see if I can find a map of that little bit between Banff and the border and come back on that later.
