Yes. I am getting it for racing and recreation. I plan on doing the Huracan 300 next year in Florida and hopefully the TD in 2013 or 14 if family and work things work out...

The HCx would be a good choice for that. Garmin is replacing it with the eTrex 30 though, which looks like it'll be similar. You might find a great deal on the HCx before it's discontinued, or wait and go with the newer xTrex 30.
