I've a Genesis Fortitude SS

I'm thinking about an Alfine 8 hub gear or the Problem Solvers Mech Hanger
http://problemsolversbike.com/products/universal_derailleur_hanger. I like the ide of the 1x9 or 1x10 setup, because if the derailleur have any problem, I can use the bike as a singlespeed. (I can hardly do this with the Alfine...) What do You think? Would prefer Alfine or 1x9?
Anyway, what do You think about using a drop bar on this bike?
