Anyone have either of the products mentioned above? Trying to get an idea of pluses and minuses. Thanks

Have you got skinny ankles?  The problem I have with both type of socks is that they are too baggy on the ankles and water gets inside.  I've started wearing thick, merino wool socks instead...at least when they get wet, they still keep my feet warm.

I've had the Sealskins, but they've leaked. For wind socks they're great though.

The socks i've really come to love are the NRS Hydroskins: http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=2342
Used them for everything from hiking in spring corn to fishing in cold waters.

I do have skinny ankles since I am pretty short. I may have to try those out. The smartwool regulars today didnt exactly do it. My feet were swimming. Ill have to check out the heavier ones.

Ill take a look at those. Thanks. I am guessing the bigger the legs or ankles, the better the fit.

I can highly recommend  the Gore brand socks. They kept my my feet completely dry on a recent trip crossing ice cold streams and flooded roads on a recent trip. I took my bike shoes off and carried them, and threw on the Gore waterproof socks over smart wool socks as I either pushed or rode through water. Then removed them, and put on the dry bike shoes. Very nice to have dry socks, and shoes. The Gore socks pack relatively light and take little space.
