Looking around for a less expensive underseat bag for the times when I'm just going out on day trips.  I want something with a storage for windbreaker, extra woolie, hat, food.... around the 400 cubic inch realm.  Looked at the http://www.banjobrothers.com/products/seat-bags/waterproof-saddle-trunk/, and this http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FMW3 one, and was wondering if anybody has ever used it.  Upsides/downsides?  Does it sway around alot even with the straps tied down?

Here is my review from last year:

http://www.bikepacking.net/reviews/banjo-brothers-seat-bag/

I had it mounted on a smaller fram 29'er with layback seat post and the bag did rub on the rear wheel.  Also, the origianl rivets holding the straps for the seatpost did come out.  I contacted Banjo Bros. since I live in Minneapolis and we talked about it, he took it back and reinforced it for me.  Great service.  For couple day trips it is great.  I think I will be looking at a Revelate or similar bag of CTR in 2011.

I like the looks of the Banjo Bros bag. I have one of their small seat bagas, and aside from the zipper being difficult to access(it's tucked under the rails), It's held up better than any of the Blackburn, Bontrager or Avenir seat bags I've had before.

The Jandd Mountain Wedge 3 is a great concept, but it had substantial leg rub for me and it rides pretty low in its expanded configuration (rubbed the back tire on my cross bike).  Might not be an issue if you have skinnier legs and a saddle that is high enough above the wheel.  Mine is closer to the rear wheel than average, but not a whole lot.  It seems to be very well made.  For bikepacking where you don't need to get in and out of your seat bag a lot, the Revelate I now have is significantly better.

An FYI, I use my CDW rear seat pack as a daily commuter.  The great thing about this bag (and the Revelate is the same) is that you can roll them up tightly if'n you're only using a tube/tool kit; or it expands greatly for more stuff.  I use it A LOT and it has held up great.  I highly recommend it.

I have the Jandd bag and I'm pretty happy with it.  I put food, stove, and clothing in it.  I haven't had any leg rub or tire rub with it, but I can see how that could be a problem on some bikes.  I have been using it without the tie-down straps and I haven't had any sway issues.  If your LBS has one, make sure it will fit before you buy.
