Light rig, big tires, and lots of travelling!

Hey guys !

So I'm currently in Europe, planning a tour of the south (Portugal, Spain, France, Italia).

I used to that day either a 26" rigid mtb with 2" tires, or a rigid hybrid with 700x35.

Now, I like big wheels, and I love big tires. So I guess I'll need a 29er mtb.

Here's what I had in mind:
Vbrake. don't tell me about discs . seriously  
Horizontal Dropouts: I like to SS!! maybe I'll later convert it to a singlecrank.
Derailleur hanger: because I hate SS 
Ability to put midges bars. I've only known flat mtb bars, but it appears to be important to be comfortable on your bike when travelling, so I'll give it a go.

Of course, I'll need a suspension-less bike, and want to try something else than aluminium. so titanium, steel or carbon are okay (even though my budget might only allow steel)

For now I'm thinking of a Karate Monkey! the frameset would be good.
There's also the Ogre and Cross Check that I have n mind

Any idea where I could order it online with an int. shipping?

Couldn't source any KM.

Have any idea about this one? Like where I could find a 18" one (even disc is okay, I prefer to ride a disc bike than not riding at all : )

I'll go with that option if I can't find a used one. I can't see the benefits of buying a brand new frame set, as for me that just means less money for the wheels... whicih is where I'll put most of the €€€

The Ogre would also do the job, (or any type of 29er with horizontal drop outs and derailleur hanger)

Okay, So now I'm looking for a Cross-check, or Karate Monkey / Ogre.

CX-like bike are not that common around here, but if I can, I'll give a try at the crosscheck and find by myself.

Hey,

Before spending 500 to 800$ on a brand new frameset (aiming at KM, or crosscheck), would you know another option out there that is not 3.5kg?

Seriously, 500€ is half the price of a titanium frame (say pickenflick)

I mean the cross check is 4.8pds (2.3kg) and the fork is 2.6pounds (1.2kg)

I think I'll stick to the surly if can't find a lighter option out there, I really need the horizontal drop outs combined with derailleur hanger. V brakes and big tyres are cool too ^^

OK, it has disc brakes and I don't know about the drop-outs. But it saves you a lot of money that you can throw in for stronger wheels. I doubt if that is necessary, though, because the fatter the tires, the lesser the impact on rims and spokes. Often, heavier wheels are stronger wheels. I think they offer more colors than yellow.

Almost exactly what I DONT want: 

Aluminium frame
vertical drop out -I presume-
discs

It's an unexpensive starter though...
